Pottery Class

The Cherokee Strip Museum is excited to offer a hands-on pottery-making experience with Alysia from Frankoma Pottery on Saturday, June 28, 2025, 1st class: 10am-12pm, 2nd class: 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. This unique workshop will be held in the Blacksmith Shop on the museum grounds and is open to both members and the general public.

The class begins with a fascinating look into the history and nature of clay pottery, highlighting how early Native American communities used Oklahoma’s rich red clay to create distinctive and functional art. Alysia will guide participants through the historical significance and traditional techniques before leading them in making their own individual pottery piece.

Each attendee will create a handmade item that will be fired and available for pickup approximately three weeks after the class.

Complimentary light refreshments, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided during both classes!

Cost:

  • $40 for Cherokee Strip Historical Society members and Oklahoma Historical Society members
  • $50 for non-members
